Iowa City-The Hawkeyes bus to Cedar Rapids. The Hoosiers head to Bedford. The Buckeyes hole up across the street from the stadium. Those three football teams and all their Big Ten brethren follow a long time tradition of staying together at a hotel on the nights before home games. Coaches say it is necessary to get away from distractions on campus. Players say it helps them focus. It also costs money and the PAC Ten has proposed to the NCAA that, to save money, home schools should not be allowed to stay in hotels the night before games.
