DES MOINES (AP) - A new poll for The Des Moines Register shows about 40 percent of Iowans believe they're worse off financially than they were four years ago.
The poll, published in a copyright story in Saturday's newspaper, indicates 45 percent say their finances are about the
same as they were in 2005, when unemployment was far below the current 6.7 percent rate.
About 42 percent of Iowans think their finances will remain the
same in the coming year, while 29 percent thought they'd get worse and 27 percent thought they'd improve.
The telephone poll was conducted Nov. 8-11 by Selzer & Co. of
800 Iowans ages 18 and older. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
